Artivism: Radical Hope Exhibition — Collaborative Social Impact

Art has long been a powerful medium for social change, and the latest Artivism exhibition, Radical Hope, proved its ability to provoke thought, inspire action, and create lasting impact. Hosted at Art4C Art Centre in Bangkok from March 3 to March 15, 2025, this exhibition brought together creative minds from around the world in a bold, interdisciplinary initiative that bridged activism and artistic expression.

A Visionary Behind the Movement

The V FOR HUMAN Association was founded by Deniz Sulmaz, a Harbour.Space University student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in High-Tech Entrepreneurship. As an international human rights NGO, V4H has been at the forefront of blending Art, Sports, and STEM into activism. Since its inception in Istanbul in 2021, it has expanded across five countries on four continents, fostering an ecosystem of creative resistance and intellectual engagement. Deniz’s entrepreneurial mindset has played a crucial role in shaping this initiative, using their venture to create meaningful change through art, STEM, law and sport for intellectual activism. Their work highlights how entrepreneurship can be a force for social good, integrating business acumen with humanitarian efforts to drive real-world impact.

A Collaboration Rooted in Change

This year’s exhibition was the result of a significant collaboration between Harbour.Space University, University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC), and Chulalongkorn University. The event highlighted emerging voices in digital arts, featuring three distinguished artists from UTCC’s Faculty of Digital Art (DAD) and their mentor, Dr. Jakrapun, who contributed both his expertise and his own artwork to the show.

Notably, the exhibition welcomed its youngest contributors in its history—two promising DAD students—marking a new chapter in the evolution of socially engaged art. Their participation underscored the exhibition’s commitment to nurturing fresh perspectives and empowering young artists to use their craft as a tool for advocacy.

Radical Hope: A Call to Action

The Radical Hope exhibition was more than just a display of artistic talent; it was a statement, a challenge, and a call to action. Each piece invited visitors to engage beyond passive observation, urging them to feel, question, and respond.

As the exhibition moved from its origins in Istanbul to its fifth iteration in Bangkok, it carried forward a crucial message: awareness alone is not progress. In an era where reactions often substitute for meaningful action, Radical Hope served as a response to silence and hesitation. It reminded us that change does not happen in moments, but in what we choose to do next.

Radical hope is not naive optimism. It is the conscious decision to act despite knowing the weight of reality. It transforms understanding into responsibility and responsibility into movement.

The Impact of Harbour.Space University

At Harbour.Space University, innovation is at the heart of education. This collaboration with V FOR HUMAN and Art4C Art Centre aligned with the university’s ethos of pushing boundaries, fostering creativity, and driving social impact. By supporting this exhibition, Harbour.Space empowered students and artists to think critically, act boldly, and contribute meaningfully to global conversations on activism and justice.

As the Radical Hope exhibition concluded, it left behind more than just artworks it left a lasting impression on all who attended. The exhibition was a powerful reminder that art is not just for viewing but for engaging, questioning, and ultimately, transforming society. The conversations sparked, the emotions stirred, and the commitments inspired during these two weeks will continue to resonate, urging participants and visitors alike to carry forward the message of radical hope into their own communities.
